Desmond College is experiencing great success so far in the All Ireland School’s Talent Search with two acts making it through to the All-Ireland Semi-Final. From the original entry of over 600 acts, there are only 50 remaining. The Schools Talent Search Competition is a charity event and the benefiting charity 2014 is the Cancer Care Services. (Support group for people in recovery from cancer treatment).

The two acts which qualified last Sunday night from Desmond College, in the Strand Hotel were Shane Walsh (singer) with his performance of “Feelin’ Good”, and Draíocht (The Desmond College Trad Group) with their arrangement and interpretation of “Little Talks: Of Monsters and Men”. The members of Draíocht are Emma Roche, Jack O’Connor, Brian Harnett, Diarmuid Curtin, Laoise Curtin and Patrick Moriarty.

The Semi-Final will be held in the Greenhills Hotel Limerick on Sunday April 6th. Doors will open to the public at 6pm, show commencing at 6.30pm. The Admission is €10. Judging is divided between 3 judges and the audience vote. In the semi-final, the judges’ votes count for 75% of the scores with the audience votes counting for the other 25%. It costs €1 to vote.
