Enterprise Awards Winners From Desmond College 2014:Teachers P.E.T.

Three students Leah Barry, Muireann Tobin and Aine Upton won 1st place in the Intermediate Section of the Enterprise Awards in Croke Park on Wednesday 3rd April with their project Teachers P.E.T.

The three girls who are 2nd year students in Gaelcholaiste Ui Chonba (the Irish stream in Desmond College) said they were initially shocked but now delighted with their success. The standard of entrants in the competition is extremely high – the girls winning top place from hundreds of participants from all over the country.

Leah, the Managing Director of the company, said their project has proved to be very popular with teachers and sales are growing all the time. The Teachers P.E.T. is a multi-functional whiteboard cleaner which has a range of different tools designed to help teachers in the classroom.

The students won a prize of €400, a trophy and received certification. They have been interviewed for many radio stations and newspapers but said they enjoyed meeting 2FM’s Rick O’Shea the best!
