Congratulations to TY Business Studies students, Steven Brosnan and Tom Flavin, who represented F21-D (a mini company set up by the transition years of Desmond College) for qualifying for the All Ireland Finals of Junior Dragons’ Den.

Desmond College Transition Year Business F21-D in the Young Dragon's Den Final on 8th Dec 2012

The students have developed their own unique brand of screen wash. The students will represent their school in Dublin on the 8th December in the Gibson Hotel along with approx. another one hundred young entrepreneurs. Of these eighteen companies will be selected by Shinawil who are recording the programme for television to be screened in two special editions in the new year.

The competition is sponsored by Bank of Ireland and the students will vie for a potential prize fund of €2000.

Well done to all in the group including teacher and mentor Mr Donal Enright.

Desmond College Students Dare to Enter the Dragons’ Den!

Two TY students from Desmond College have made it through to the All Ireland Final of Junior Dragons’ Den to be shown on RTE in the new year. Desmond College is one of only 18 schools nationwide who have been chosen from hundreds who entered regional rounds over the last few weeks.

The competition run by RTE and Bank of Ireland went looking for young entrepreneurs from schools across Ireland to take part in the Junior Dragons’ Den. This search for some of the brightest minds in Irish secondary led them to two Desmond College students Steven Brosnan and Tom Flavin both in Transition year.

The boys, who have made a new screen wash for cars called F21-D, will get to pitch in front of the Dragons while being recorded by RTE for episode 9 and 10 of the very popular Dragons’ Den which is now onto series 5 and will be aired in April 2013.
