Bright and early on Monday 1st of May 2017, 30 excited students and 3 enthusiastic teachers set off from Desmond College to travel to the beautiful city of Barcelona.

Our flight departed from Dublin airport and after some slight turbulence, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, we arrived in Barcelona and were greeted with blue skies and sunshine!

We had a jam packed week, visiting such fabulous attractions as the Olympic Stadium and the Gothic Quarter.

The highlight of our city tour was our visit to the cultural wonder La Sagrada Familia, the architectural masterpiece designed by Gaudi. This magnificent structure is still under construction as new generations of architects continue to work on this truly awe inspiring cathedral.

We also enjoyed a wonderful morning in Park Guell, situated on the elevated city outskirts. This Park features designs by Gaudi as well as plants and flowers from all over Europe.

After an exciting cable car ride from the stunning Montjuic, students had some time to experience the vibrant shopping centres surrounding Las Ramblas.

After absorbing ourselves in cultural delights, it was time to have some fun in the sun, in the thrill seekers paradise of Port Adventura and Ferrari Land. The roller coasters have to be seen to be believed!! Students and teachers had a amazing day, certainly never to be forgotten.

We also had the privilege of visiting the Nou Camp, home to Barcelona FC. We had a tour of the stadium and the museum. This was a dream come true for our some of our students and certainly an enjoyable day for all.

The tour to Barcelona was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff.

A huge thank you to Ms Liz Cregan for organising the trip and to Ms Joan Nicholls and Ms Margaret O’Mahony for accompanying her with the students.
