There was great excitement in Desmond College on Monday 23rd September, as GAA President Liam O’Neill paid a visit to Desmond College to meet with staff and students.

GAA President visit to Desmond College School

The President was met by a guard of honour made up of Junior GAA Players from 1st and 2nd year. The President addressed the group gathered and emphasised the GAA’s commitment to respect and fair play.

Iris Kenneally (1st year) presented Liam O’Neill with a gift as a token of his visit to the school and he in turn presented a commemorative goblet to County Players Orlaith Condon, Rebecca Delee, Kiara Carroll, Leeanne Browne and Debbie Murphy. Past Pupil Joe Quaid addressed the group and was in turn presented with a gift to honour his achievement in coaching the Limerick Intermediate Camogie Team to All Ireland success.

The President, along with Jerry Bennis, Chairperson of the County Board Sean Condon, Munster Council Chairperson James Moynihan along with Camogie and GAA officials, then were taken on a tour of the school facilities by the Principal Vourneen Gavin Barry where the President acknowledged the great volunteerism and commitment by the staff involved in organising sport in the Desmond College.
