Desmond College is one of only six schools in Ireland who are participated in the Chain Reaction Project at the University of Limerick. The chain reaction project is an FP7 funded project that focuses on creating a sustainable approach to inquiry based science education in Ireland and within the other partner countries including the UK, Greece, Italy, France, Jordan, Germany, Slovakia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Georgia.

The projects aims to develop critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving skills amongst students. The students attended the National Conference on the 19th March where they presented their project about “The story Behind the Ice Bucket Challenge”. The Students were then presented with a plaque to acknowledge the contribution they have made to this project.
