This is a new and exciting time for you, a time to think about next year and choose your post-primary school and plan for the years ahead!
This year due to continuing Covid Restrictions, we do not have the opportunity of inviting you into our school for our yearly Taster Days and Open Night.
However, we are delighted that you have come to visit our school website Desmond College & Colaiste, and we invite you to check out our Facebook Page and Twitter Account. A School Starter Pack has been delivered to all Primary Schools in the area for distribution to your child. This Starter Park contains all the relevant information that you need.
We hope that this School Starter Pack and the visit to www.desmondcollege.ie , will give you an insight into what we offer in Desmond College and Colaiste.
1. While on www.desmondcollege.ie you will be able to take a Virtual Tour and see our School Prospectus.
2. We also have ‘A Day in the Life’ series running on Facebook and Twitter during the month of October, where you will get to see a variety of photos and captions which will give you a taste of life here.
3. Our School Promotion Video will drop at the end of the month. Each of you will receive an invitation QR Code link to view this video. We hope that you enjoy it.

We look forward to you joining us in Desmond College and Colaiste. Our school has a very proud tradition of excellence in education, with strong pastoral care. We are a leading school in Digital Technology, with our students using iPads and digital devices to enhance their learning experience.
Our subject options and programmes are second to none, offering the widest choice of subjects in the area and so enabling each child to study the subject best suited to their skills and talents, thus ensuring excellent results in State Examinations.
Our large school campus and state of the art facilities – woodwork rooms, science labs, music room, engineering room, PE Hall, home economics room, art rooms and canteen facility, along with bright modern classrooms, provide opportunities and experiences for each student on their educational journey.
Our Colaiste provides students with the opportunity to study their chosen subjects through Irish in our Aonad Lan Gaeilge.
Extra curricular provision gives students opportunities to play a wide range of sports on our fabulous school pitch, basketball and soccer court – hurling, football, ladies football, soccer, camogie, basketball, or athletics.
The budding scientists and entrepreneurs among you will get the chance to represent our school and county at BT Young Scientist Competition annually, to participate in Scifest, and to enter a variety of Enterprise Competitions, where we have a well earned reputation for success and prize winning year after year!
For those who like music, dance and singing, we have a vibrant Music Department who produce shows, musicals, trad group concerts and we even have our own School Radio Show!
We hope that you will join us in Desmond College & Colaiste in September 2022. We are a great Team, a team of staff, students and parents, a team who always support each other and work together, to make sure that the students of our school have a positive and happy experience of education, where each are treated with respect, dignity and kindness and then leave us to pursue courses at Universities and Colleges, take up apprenticeships or begin careers of their choice, as well rounded and accomplished young people, ready to take their place in society.
