On Thursday 22nd September, the Leaving Certificate Biology and Agricultural Science students from Desmond College travelled to Killarney National Park where they participated in a Ecology study as part of their Leaving Cert course.

The students got to experience first hand what it would be like to be an ecologist through carrying out their own field study.

They used a variety of apparatus to collect and identify a large quantity of flora and fauna. They used mammal traps to catch voles and mice and measured a number of different abiotic factors that influence the particular species present in the habitat.

This is an excellent trip in preparation for both the Biology and Agricultural Science leaving certificate exam.
